Practice Work

I tried to get my boys into drawing, too. Brandon drew the sphere below and I practiced drawing the trees and thread.

Here are some practice sketches that I tried to do from Lee Hammond's book:

WIP - Sketch - My cat, Smokey

From left to right: Smokey's photo, my first sketch in middle, then brand new sketch (WIP) I started after reading some of Lee Hammond's book, "Lifelike Drawing with Lee Hammond". This is what I'm working on right now. I've only got part of the right side done. This will take some time.

Acrylic Paintings

I first learned to paint with acrylics. My mother has one of my lighthouse paintings on her wall. I also painted one with a girl in a floppy hat. I would watch those painting shows like Bob Ross and William Alexander. Then I would buy the books and try to paint. Anyway, I don't have but one acrylic painting to show below.

Watercolor Paintings

This is the latest watercolor painting I have done which I painted last year. Below are some of my earlier watercolor paintings, too.

I am amateur, but I love to paint. I find a picture I like on the internet, and then I try to paint it. What I really want to be able to do, is to take these paintings and make landscape quilts out of them. If you visit my sewing blog, you will see under the quilting section that I started to create my first landscape quilt. It was based on a painting, but not one of mine. Watercolor is supposed to be hard, it is, but like the swan painting below, there are large sections of white. Well the white is left blank. It is not painted in other words. So it is a bit tricky to work with.

The painting below is supposed to be Wisteria.

I like sea turtles, so I just had to paint this one below.
